Summer holidays in the alps

Make 'Le Bivouac' Residence your pied-a-terre this summer. It is the ideal place to call home after a day of hiking through the Sixt-Passy Nature Reserve, or the 'cirque du Fer-a-Cheval'.

This Northern Alps residence, the starting point of numerous trails and hiking paths, is located in the heart of the authentic French village of Sixt Fer-a-Cheval. Just a stone's throw away of 'Le Bivouac', you will find a bakery, a grocery store, a magazine stand, a sport's shop, several restaurants and bars, a rafting club, and a local tourism information office. Only 6km away in Samoëns, more shops await, as well as a pharmacy and medical care should they be needed.

Summer holidays in the Alps : Discover the Rouget waterfall and the 'cirque du Fer-a-Cheval', then hike your way through the majestic mountainside. Some trails offer lodging along the way, like the 'chalets des Fonts', the 'chalets de Sales', 'lac d'Aterne', 'le Grenairon', and 'le lac de la Vogeallaz'. Others will lead you to 'gouter a la ferme', or authentic Salvandon cheese-making sites. The ancient Giffre gorges are also worth a mention, a short stroll away from the beautiful and varied flora and fauna found in the Sixt-Passy Nature Reserve.

At Sixt Fer-a-Cheval, climbing and via ferrata are available on-site, as well as lively water sports, including rafting on the Giffre river that snakes through the village.

Summer holidays in the Alps : The familial atmosphere found at Sixt Fer-a-Cheval is due to the diverse activities offered through the Tourism Office and the Sixt-Passy Nature Reserve’s information stand. Weekly guided tours of the old town are organized in season. During summer, Tuesday afternoons offer a traditional craft market.
